We're thrilled to welcome Yoosang Erin Kim to the Young Digitals Festival - a curator whose work is quietly reshaping how art communities on opposite sides of the world find each other.
What does it mean to build a bridge between two art worlds? Not a one-way crossing, but a living, reciprocal connection - one that grows stronger with each exchange? For Seoul-based curator Yoosang Erin Kim, that question sits at the heart of her practice.
Erin’s work is rooted in mediation: helping Korean artists find space on international stages, and opening doors for international artists to engage meaningfully with the Korean scene. It’s a delicate and deeply intentional kind of work, one that resists the shortcuts of tokenism in favour of something more durable. Her ongoing dialogue with Peshkar is a testament to that - a partnership built gradually, through trust and genuine curiosity about what each community has to offer the other.
The Glimmers
Erin’s most recent exhibition, The Glimmers, brought together six young Korean artists in a show that ran from late February to mid-March 2026. The title is quietly profound. A single glimmer is barely there - a trace, a flicker. But glimmers, in the plural, refers to something we all know: those small, easily overlooked moments that quietly hold us together. A warm cup of tea on a cold morning. A stranger’s smile on the commute. The sound of your mum laughing down the phone.
As therapist and author Sophie Howarth writes in Everyday Wonder, attending to these micro-moments plays an important role in regulating our nervous systems - especially for those worn down by repeated exposure to difficulty and pain. Even on hard days, glimmers are usually there, if we’re willing to look.
The exhibition asked its artists - and its audiences - to look.
The six artists featured (박유진, 김민규, 알렉스김, 유기완, 넥톤, 최건혁) each brought their own texture and story to the show. Erin’s curatorial statement puts it beautifully: “In the face of the vastness of the universe and the force of nature, we can feel fragile. Yet when individuals come together, each with their own texture and story, they begin to carry their own gravity.” There’s something quietly radical about that idea - that individuality, rather than dissolving under collective weight, actually amplifies it.
Why This Matters for Young Digitals
Young Digitals has always been a festival about more than skills and screens. It’s about imagination, connection, and the question of what role young people want to play in the creative world they’re inheriting.
Erin’s practice speaks directly to that. She’s built her career not by waiting for international opportunities to appear, but by actively creating the conditions for them - nurturing partnerships, showing up for artists at early stages of their careers, and insisting on the value of cultural exchange that goes both ways.
For young creatives wondering how to navigate a global creative landscape, her approach offers something more useful than advice: it offers a model.
Join us at the Young Digitals Festival to hear Yoosang Erin Kim speak about curatorial practice, cross-cultural collaboration, and what it really takes to build something that lasts.
The Glimmers was presented by Uncommon Gallery in partnership with AI Network, Peshkar, and Aceagrams.
