What we do
Engagement
Meaningful engagement happens when we listen to what communities want and need, then work together to develop creative opportunities that feel relevant and accessible.
Creativity starts with connection.
Listening to communities
For many years, Peshkar Productions has been working alongside communities across Oldham and the wider North West region. Our engagement work reflects a commitment to creative collaboration with young people from diverse backgrounds, working in partnership with local organisations to explore what arts participation can offer. Our approach involves going to where young people are - whether that's schools, community centres, youth organisations, or other local spaces. We've learned that meaningful engagement happens when we listen to what communities want and need, then work together to develop creative opportunities that feel relevant and accessible.
Partnerships that last
Our engagement work is built on partnerships that have developed over many years. We work with educational settings including schools like Oasis Academy and Waterhead Academy, as well as Oldham College and Oldham Sixth Form College. Community partnerships form another essential strand of our work, with organisations such as The Proud Trust, Fatima Women's Association, Great Places Housing, and Oldham Theatre Workshop being important collaborators. Beyond Oldham, we've developed relationships with partners like One Voice Blackburn, extending our collaborative approach across the wider North West region. These lasting relationships allow us to understand local contexts and develop programmes collaboratively.
Making participation possible
We try to be mindful of the different factors that might affect participation - considering timing of sessions, locations, languages spoken, and the types of activities offered. Digital tools have become an important part of our engagement work, particularly since the pandemic, helping more young people participate in creative programmes. Our engagement work continues to evolve as we learn from participants and partners. We see ourselves as part of a broader ecosystem of youth and community provision across Greater Manchester, and we welcome conversations with potential partners, funders, and communities about how we might work together. Through continued collaboration and mutual learning, we hope to contribute to creative opportunities that feel meaningful to the young people and communities of Oldham and beyond.
