The Fusion Project with ROC

In Summer 2016, Peshkar were the Arts Award delivery partner for a project called ‘Fusion’ that took place at the FUSE Centre in Partington, Trafford.

This project sought to bring the amazing FUSE building to life with a plethora of arts activity which also enabled young people to achieve Arts Awards.

The project was open to young people aged 13 and upwards from the local area and saw young people travel from as far afield as Moss Side to take part!

Two taster days were held in May Half Term to gather support and momentum for the project and it started in earnest at the start of the summer holiday with one week of activity at the beginning and one at the end of the summer break.

Young people were able to take part in workshops in drama, dance, music and visual arts and created new pieces of performance, videos, animation, music tracks and experimented with projection mapping and other digital technologies. They also went on trips to BBC Media City, The Lowry and the Imperial War Museum North.

The project culminated with a ‘Takeover Day’ held on the 10th September where young people shared what they had created with parents, friends and local people as well as leading workshops to show the guests the new skills that they had learnt.

The project was a great success and we successfully achieved 12 Discover, 29 Bronze and 1 Silver Arts Award.

Thanks to ROC for getting us involved in the project and their artistic team, to all the brilliant young people and to the Peshkar artists who supported the project Sophie, Joe, Huma, Jenny and Natasha.
